Access Hotmail From Within Gmail

//Hooray … Hotmail POP3 is available (free at last) to all users. Now I no longer have to suffer their horrible webmail service and their ugly interface with loads of advertising. Yeah, I can finally pull out Hotmail into my Gmail account. I bet a lot of you are doing the same thing too!! For those of you (like me) that used their Hotmail account as a garbage collection(spam, chain mail, random registration, etc.), you can set up a few filters and a few labels to manage all the mail that comes from Hotmail.

Tip: You can use TemporaryInbox as a temporary mail for registration purposes. Btw, don’t forget that you could also access Hotmail on your web-enabled mobile phone from mobile.live.com. 

                  

Hotmail POP3 Settings:

POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)   
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25 or 587)   
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes

 

Note: You will need the information above to set up Hotmail in email program on your PC or mobile device.

Guide: How to access Hotmail from within Gmail?

Step 1: 

Open your Gmail account > Settings > Accounts > Choose “Add a mail account you own“.

 

Step 2:

Enter the settings as shown below, (of course, use your own username).

Step 3:

Follow the instructions on screen to continue, a verification code will be sent to you Hotmail account.

 

Step 4:

Confirm the verification and you are done.

 

Voila, your Gmail account is now ready to receive mail from Hotmail. You can set up your own filters and labels. It works great.  Gmail rocks, Enjoy

Third Generation iPod Shuffle

//Yeah … its here, the new iPod Shuffle 4GB(~1000 songs) with its new special feature, the VoiceOver. The VoiceOver allows the iPod Shuffle to speak your song titles, artists, among others. lol, just wondered what would happen if the title is not spelled correctly? Ahh,  it also tells you when battery level is low.  A nice little display on the device would have been much better. This iPod comes in only silver and black (the silver one still rocks), err… what happened to all the other flashy colors?   

 

Concerning the new design, its half the size of the previous version,  looks weird and ugly(long rectangle shape). I greatly preferred the previous design over this one. The controls are no more found on the device but  in a small remote found on the standard earphone cord. The sound quality from the standard earphones is very poor, mushy sound at times and the earbuds, aiee aiee … hurt the ears after long use. Users will be forced to use the standard earphone as all the controls are attached to the earphone cord. I think it’s going to put a lot of people off.

Conclusion

The prior generation iPod Shuffle looks far much better than this one. Hurray, my old iPod Shuffle(2nd generation) still rocks, I used the Sony Ericsson earphones with it, the earbuds offer deep bass and the sound quality is incredible. Note that the old version of iPod Shuffle will still be available according to Apple… go for the old one. Happy Independence Day !!

Still here, hmm … what next !! Just some tips on how to use this service and on how to configure your account(which is pretty easy).

Step 1: Registration

Go on Wadja.com, fill in the details, enter a valid mail and “Join Wadja”.

They will send you a confirmation mail.

Step 2: Sending an SMS

Login to your account, once it has been confirmed. Click on “Compose”(2), choose “SMS”(3). Enter the receiver phone number, the message and finally click on “Send”.

Note: Don’t forget to enter the country code just before the phone number(for Mauritius its +230).

 

Step 3: Add your mobile number to your account (optional)

Now, go through this step only if you want the receiver to know your own phone number, just select “Add mobile number”(4) from the list. 

 

Enter your phone number and a verification code will be sent to your mobile phone for confirmation.

Hooray, your account has been configured. Btw, this website has been specifically designed to be viewed on your mobile phone or handset device. You can access it from your mobile phone and send SMS via wap. You can also check out SmsFree4All.

Triple Torrent Download Speed

// Yep…with price reductions and increased speed on broadband and Orange My.T in Mauritius, its  time to accelerate your download speed. This is a step by step guide on how to configure uTorrent to triple your download speed. I recommend uTorrent(the number one choice) as BitTorrent client. If you are new to torrent world then you should first check this tutorial for port forwarding. 

Note: I assume that you have done the port forwarding stuff. If not, here is a step by step tutorial(made by myself) for forwarding a port in the router(myT livebox). You can still go by without port forwarding, but speeds will not be optimal.

Step 1: Increase the number of Max Half Open TCP connections

Let’s starts, Windows XP limits the number of connections a Bittorrent client can attempt to establish simultaneously at any given time. The default limit in Windows XP is 10, its a barrier against virus multiplication(to slow the propogation of worms) but its also drop torrent speeds considerably, as torrent needs a large number of simultaneous connnections.

What is Half Open TCP Connection? 

A half-open connection is when your computer has requested a connection to a remote computer, but has not received an acknowledgment back. If the remote computer is overloaded, it can take some time for it to acknowledge the request, during which time your local connection sits there, half open. Eventually it will time out.

 

To change this limit:

• First you have to download that patch.

                             For Winblows XP Service Pack 2: Download Patch Here

                             For Winblows XP Service Pack 3: Download Patch Here

• After that you need to disable your Internet connection/Unplug your Internet cable and restart your computer.
• Then run the patch to set the connection number, set it to 200.  (Some said that 500 to 600 is better).

• Click ‘Apply’ and Restart the computer again.  

Note: This patch modifies the TCPIP.sys file in Windows to allow a higher number of TCP connections.

 

Step 2: Set the number of TCP connection in uTorrent

• Open uTorrent, go to Options > Preferences > Advanced.
• In the right hand side pane, browse for “net.max_halfopen” and set to “190″, as shown in the picture below.
• Click “Set” and finally “Apply”.

Note: The number of “net.max_halfopen” is set lower than the value set in TCPIP.sys.

 

After these two steps, you should notice a considerable increase in speed(of course if you are downloading a file with with a good number of seeders).

 

Step 3: Changing the Protocol Encryption in uTorrent

When enabling protocol encryption, ISPs find it difficult if not impossible to detect that the traffic is coming from BitTorrent. I’ve enabled it but I don’t know if this setting has contributed to the increase in speed. Yep, logically you should get better speeds with encryption disabled.

 

• Open uTorrent, go to Options > Preferences > BitTorrent.
• Select “Enabled” from the list and click “Apply”.

 

Step 4: Don’t forget to change the “Connection Type”

• Open uTorrent, go to  Options > Speed Guide. 
• In the “Connection Type” zone.
• Set it to xx/512k (depending on your broadband connection).

 

Conclusion

After running through each of the above steps, you should get a nice juicy download speeds. If you don’t see the green icon(as shown in the picture below), then something is wrong with “Port Forwarding”, check out the steps again in the tutorial to try solve this problem.

Bofff, ton nom me fait penser à un autre pervers obèse, le Pére Noël … un sacré menteur. Ça fait plus de 15 ans que j’ai commandé une Porsche(couleur rouge démon) et j’attends toujours ma voiture. La grippe aviaire a fait du dégât ! Depuis on bute tout ce qui vole. À Maurice, on a eu le fameux chikungunya ! Depuis on pique avant qu’ils nous piquent (pik li avan li pik ou). Mais toi Cupidon, sale volaille tes plus dangereux que ces foutus virus. Je me demande comment ça se fait que t’es encore en vie.

A cause de toi, le 14 février de chaque année, c’est le jour de la Saint Valentin, jour ou les mecs soi-disant galants doivent lécher le cul de leur soi-disant Aphrodite avec une rose à la main.

Tiens-toi à carreau petit emplumé, la prochaine fois que tu tireras sur moi. J’ai tout prévu pour te capturer, je vais t’enfermer dans une cage à hamster. Je vais adorer prendre des photos de toi en te lançant des cailloux sur la tête. Je te fais la promesse qu’on ira même faire un tour à la MSPCA dès que j’aurai un peu de temps libre, dommage que t’es moche j’aurai pu me faire quelques roupies en te vendant à la foire du dimanche.
